What this notice covers
This notice explains how we use information from Petapult’s website and general mailing list.
What we collect
If you join our mailing list, you give us your email address and choose whether to receive marketing emails.
We use Mailchimp to manage the list and send emails. It also keeps basic records needed to run the service. These may include when and how you signed up, your IP address and approximate location, and whether you are subscribed. They may also show whether an email was delivered, bounced, marked as spam or unsubscribed.
Netlify hosts and protects our website. We also use Netlify Web Analytics. It uses server logs to give us anonymous figures such as page views, broad locations and where visits came from. It does not put analytics cookies in your browser or create profiles of individual visitors for us.
We do not ask for names, postal addresses or payment information through the general mailing-list page.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- send occasional emails about Petapult, including game news, behind-the-scenes updates and launch information;
- manage subscriptions, unsubscribes, delivery problems and complaints;
- keep the mailing list and website secure; and
- understand general interest in the website so we can improve it.
We use your consent as our legal reason for adding you to the mailing list and sending marketing emails. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
We use our legitimate interests as the legal reason for running and protecting the website and understanding anonymous website statistics. We also use this reason to manage delivery problems and keep the minimum records needed to respect unsubscribe requests. In plain language, we have a valid business need to run a secure website and avoid contacting people who have asked us to stop.
You do not have to give us your email address, but you cannot join the mailing list without it.
Sending information outside the UK
Mailchimp, Netlify and their suppliers may use or store information in the United States and other countries outside the UK.
When information is sent outside the UK, we use protections recognised by UK law where required. These may include UK adequacy regulations, the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or approved contractual clauses.
How long we keep information
We keep your mailing-list information while you remain subscribed or until we close the mailing list.
If you unsubscribe or object to marketing, we keep only the minimum information needed to record that choice and make sure we do not contact you again.
We keep information about failed deliveries and complaints only for as long as we need it to protect the mailing service, respect your choices and meet legal requirements.
We do not make routine copies of the mailing list. If an export is needed for support, security or a request from you, we limit who can use it and normally delete the working copy within 30 days.
Netlify Web Analytics shows us anonymous website statistics for the previous 30 days.
Your choices and rights
Every marketing email contains an unsubscribe link. Using it is the quickest way to stop the emails. You can also contact privacy@petapult.co.uk.
You always have the right to object to direct marketing. If you object, we must stop using your information for that purpose.
You may also object when we use information for our legitimate interests. We will stop unless we have a compelling reason to continue that outweighs your rights, or we need the information for a legal claim.
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of your personal information;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your information;
- limit or object to how we use it; or
- give you information you provided in a format you can reuse.
You can withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not make our earlier use of your information unlawful.
These rights do not apply in exactly the same way in every situation. If we cannot fulfil a request, we will explain why. We normally respond within one month and may ask for enough information to confirm who you are.
Age
The mailing list is for people aged 13 or over. Please do not subscribe if you are under 13. If we learn that someone under 13 has subscribed, we will remove their information.
Complaints
Please contact us first at privacy@petapult.co.uk so we can try to resolve your concern.
You have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) about how we use your personal information.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice if our website, mailing practices or suppliers change. We will show the latest revision date at the top and explain important changes where appropriate.
